Work starts today on the exciting streetscape improvement scheme on Shaw Road. Providing wider pavements for pedestrians, the carriageway will enhance the appeal of existing shops and cafés. With an aim to create a move liveable and inviting street environment, the work is likely to last for four months with a completion set for around June time.

Helping Britain Blossom in partnership with Heaton Mersey Conservation Group, are holding a Wassail which involves drinking to the health of trees. This traditional ceremony is practiced in many of the cider orchards in southern England during the winter.
Helping Britain Blossom orchards have a simple proposition. The community comes together to plant, or restore, fruit trees and create valuable green space in their local area. This orchard can be as few as five trees or many hundreds of trees, what matters is that the orchard provides a safe, green space for the local community that can be used for a wide range of activities and celebrations.

A local Heaton Moor resident and urban designer Nick Atherton, is seeing his vision to pedestrianise Shaw Road brought to life. In partnership with the Four Heatons Traders Association, Nick has obtained funding by Stockport SMBC to redesign the carriageway on Shaw Road, enhancing the appeal of existing shops and cafés. The project will produce wider pavements which will create a move liveable and inviting street environment.
Actor Tribe is a new acting school which aims to provide a platform and freedom, for students to potentially start working in the business as professional actors.
Based in Heaton Mersey, the acting school is headed up by husband and wife duo Lee Boardman and Jennifer James. Having grown up in Reddish, Lee knows The Heatons well and is very excited to work with local talent. Inviting people young and old, acting master classes are now available for people to register their place.
